Minutes 8/28/1992i NMI VILLAGE OF CAYUGA HEIGHTS BOARD OF TRUSTEES Minutes of a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Cayuga Heights held August 28, 1992 at 4:30 PM in the Village Hall. PRESENT: Mayor Anderson; Trustees Collyer, Fleming, Janis, Kira, Pimentel; Supt. of yublic Works Rogers; Fire Chief Leonhardt. ABSENT: Trustee Perry. Mayor Anderson called the meeting to order and explained the need for a- timely decision on roof repair over the south bays of the Fire Station if it is to be done during the 1992 construction season. Supt. Rogers had contacted the archi- tect, Robert Tallman, •regarding construction details of the present flat roof. Tallman suggested that the problem of leaking could be solved by re- roofing as a flat roof, but that a pitched roof would be the preferred solution. Supt. Rogers recommended that if the Board wishes to correct the problem this budget year, the job should be let as soon as possible for completion in September 1992. If the work is not done in September the repair should not be done until next summer. It was his opinion that no significant damage would accrue to the Fire Station if the repair was delayed until next summer, but that the same work would cost more at that time. Quotations for the repairs are as follows: 1. Replacement of the flat roof with a new membrane. On June 30, 1992, E.H. Lang Inc. submitted a quotation of $13,000. 2. New pitched roof (5/12 slope) complete except for painting and any added insula- tion required or requested. House Medics quote - $10,500. 3.1New pitched roof (5/12 slope). Extrapolation from bid of E.H. Lang Inc. for re- placement of lower pitch roof on another part of the Firehouse with a 5/12 roof at $11.21 per sq.ft. The roof area over the south bays is 2,100 sq.ft., and we might expect a bid of $23,624. Thus, the quotation from House Medics is the lowest in cost and also the best of the two basic methods for fixing the roof problem. Motion by Trustee Pimentel, seconded by Trustee Collyer: RESOLUTION 4392 - ACCEPT BID FROM'HOUSE MEDICS FOR ROOF REPAIR VOTED to repair the Fire Station roof over the south bays with a 5/12 pitch roof and to have it done as soon as possible. The quotation of House Medics of $10,500 is accepted as per their proposal. The Village may wish to consider additions of added insulation and guttering on the north face of the roof as work progresses. Trustees Collyer, Fleming, Janis, Kira, Pimentel voted YES. Motion by Trustee Collyer, seconded by Trustee Kira: RESOLUTION 4393 - APPROVE PAYMENT TO ORCHARD EARTH AND PIPE VOTED to approve payment #5 to Orchard Earth and Pipe, Solvay, NY as per their bill- ing of August 7, 1992, in the amount of $48,715.65 for work completed on Remington Road.
