Anderson Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights Report of the Police Department for January 1990 The Police Department handled 76 complaints dnd investigated 12 motor vehicle accidents during the month. There were 87 traffic tickets issued and 24 parking tickets issued during the month. There were three felony complaints: one for grand larceny, one for burglary and one for an attempt to commit the crime of burglary. There were thirteen misdemeanor complaints: six for criminal mischief, four for bad checks, two for petit larceny and one for aggravated harassment. There were sixty miscellaneous complaints investigated by the Police Department. One persorP was arrested for criminal possession of a forged instrument as a felony. He was brought back to Ithaca on a Village of Cayuga Heights Arrest Warrant from Buffalo, N.Y. Due to the Harris murders in Ellis Hollow, there was a dramatic increase in the installation of burglar alarms in the Village. Many residents also requested security checks of their homes and looked to the Police Department for suggestions and ideas for improved security measures in their every day living. This also increased the suspicious persons calls for the month which caused us.to use increased movement around the Village in the marked patrol.car giving a higher visibility rate. Nine new burglar alarms were installed in the Village alone and fortunately all these, alarms have fire alarms added which go directly to Tompkins County Emergency Control. There was a total of $5,969.83 in property reported lost or stolen during the month and $267.42 was recovered by the Police Department.
