SUBJECT: Report of the Police Department for September 1989
The Police Department handled 98 complaints and investigated 4
motor vehicle accidents during the month. There were 113 traffic
tickets issued and 71 parking tickets issued during the month.
There were five felony complaints, three for burglary, one for
criminal possession of a forged instrument, and one for possession
of stolen property. There were fourteen misdemeanor complaints,
five for petit larceny, three for criminal mischief, two for criminal
trespass, two for aggravated harassment, one for bad check and one for
unlawfully dealing with a child. There were seventy -nine miscellaneous
complaints investigated by the Police Department.
The following arrests were made during the month: three arrests for
driving while intoxicated, two arrests for possession of stolen
property, one arrest for disorderly conduct, one arrest for criminal
mischief, one arrest for petit larceny and unlawful possession of
marihuana. Two juveniles were apprehdnded� for a•= ..cdrfew:_violation.
I attended a one day seminar sponsored by the Ithaca Police Department
which dealt with drugs and drug enforcement as a task force operation.
Four officers attended a one day breath test operator refresher course
to keep their breath test permits valid for two more years. The new
9 mm handguns and associated equipment have arrived and certification
will commence during the last two weeks of October. The new Mc Gruff
puppet also arrived and Sgt. Lansing will be taking training during
the month of October through the Tompkins County Office of Crime
Prevention.
There was a total of $10,512.00 in property reported lost or stolen
during the month and $70.35 was recovered by the Police Department.
One motor vehicle stolen within the county was also recovered by the
Police Department.
The full time officers worked,65 hours overtime during the month and
the part -time officers worked 152 hours.
