Esteemed Board,
we are writing to appeal the 5% penalty added to our tax bill this month. The tate payment oftaxes was simply a matter of poor eircumstances in June. we paid otf the mortgage on June 17and attempted to right away learn from the bank, which had held our tax payments in escrow, ifthey had any taxes currently due, but the representative was not knowlegeable on the matter andperhaps handling too many tasks at work to be able to properly search any existing liability on the

when they closed it. on that date, they must have had the viuage tax statement
we also left for vacation shortly afterward and had our mail put on hold. we did receive thebank's forwarded copy of the original tax bill, but only after returning home on July 1g, along withthe Village's notice about unresolved payment and the 5% penalty. All of this news came in thebundle of held mail upon our return from vacation. we hope you will understand thecircumstances of timing and rerieve the penarty for non-payment in June.
The staff rnember at the Village clerk office indicated that the board meets on August 11 andcan rule on such an appeal and refund the penalty fee if decided in our favor and she remindedus that we must pay.the tax bill by July 31 to avoid the addition al 1o/openalty fee. Thus, the taxpayment is enclosed, including the 5% fee.
