RE: August 2011 Report
The tax bills continue to be collected with about 30,250 still outstanding as of today. As
a future thought, Tuesday, November 1st will be the last day for the Village to receive
payments. Any tax bills not collected by this date will be scheduled to appear on the
Town and County 2012 January 1st bill. A resolution will be prepared for the Board’s
approval at the November 14th meeting and then given to the Tompkins County Budget
and Finance office in preparation of the 2012 Town and County tax billing cycle.
There were three FOIL requests for the month of August.
All-Mode was in August 31st and did the install for updating the phone system. I believe
we are up and running with only a few minor glitches that All-Mode is working on.
Michael Salm, Sherpa, has begun to do the server upgrade and please have patience
as some systems will be “down” for short periods of time as work is being done.
Linda Lerch, Finger Lakes Technologies Group Inc, has provided a quote for the land
lines and fax numbers currently costing over $860/month to a cost of $578/month. If we
sign the Finger Lakes contract the terms is for 36 months. There are not “ending” dates
for our current contracts. Depending on the month, savings could range between $150 -
250 in savings per month. Currently (approximately): Light Link - $250/mo; Verizon
$590/mo; AT&T $27/mo – total $867: Finger Lakes contract estimate – total $578;
savings @ $289. (See copy of Finger Lakes contract estimate)
A decision should be made relatively soon regarding the new Roth 457 offered by the
Deferred Comp Plan available to employees. My suggestion, if you decided to offer this
plan (no cost to the Village; it would be a payroll deduction), would be to provide
information to all employees with a target date of January 1 st to begin the program.
As a reminder, I will be taking two classes this semester. They are on Monday and
Wednesday nights. Angela will be taking notes during the Board of Trustee meetings in
my absence for the months of September, November and December.
