PROIPOSED LOCAL LAW *J" OF THE YEAR 2011
A LOCAL ]LAW AMENDING ARTICLE I, FIREARMS AND OTHERDANGEROUS WEAPONS, OF THE VILLAGE OF CAYUGA HEIGHTS ARTICLES
Be it enacted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Cayuga Heights as follows:
Section L TBIASE ANp TNTENT.
The purpose of thLis local law is to amend Article I, Firearms and other Dangerousweapons, of the village of guyugu Heights Articles. The intention is to provide additional detailto the current Article I, Se,ction 2 and, add an exception for actions taken in connection with theVillage's deer manLagement program.
Section II. AUl}Ie&tTy
This Local Lry il rlnacted pursuant to the grant of powers to local governments providedfor in (i) Section 10 of the Municipal Home Rule Law to adopt and amend local laws notinconsistent with tlhe provisions of the New York state constitution or not inconsistent with anygeneral law relatirLg to its property, affairs, government or other subjects provided for in saidSection 10 of the Municipal Home Rule Law.
Section III.
As of the erffbctive date of this Local Law, Article I, of the Village,s Articles shall beamended by deleting Section 2 in its entirety and replacing it with the followlng language:

EXCEPTToN: The provisions of this Article I, Section 2 shall not apply toany agent or contractor of the Village of Cayuga Heights taking suchaciionin connection with the village's deer .utrug"io.rrt p'rogram, provided thatsaid a;gent or contractor is acting in accordance with:
A' a curently valid contract executed by the village and such agent orcontractor: and

B. a valid New York State Department of llnvironrnental Conservation
Permit for such actions; and
C. all applicable New York State laws and regulations.
Section IV. SUPERSEDING EFFECT.
All Local Laws, resolutions, rules, regulations and other enactments of the Village of
Cayuga Heights in conflict with the provisions of this Local Law are hereby superceded to the
extent necessary to give this Local Law full force and effect.
Section V. VALIDITY.
The invalidity of any provision of this Local Law shall not afflect the validity of any other
provision of this Local Law that can be given effect without such invalid provision.
SBcrroN VL EFFECTIVE DATE.
This Local Law shall be effective as of the date of filing with the New York Secretary of
State, except that it shall be effective from the date of service as against a person served with a
copy thereof, certified by the Village Clerk, and showing the date of its passage and entry in the
Minutes of the Villaee Board of Trustees.
