Heads From: Mary Mills, Clerk RE: September 2011 Report An update on the Tax bill collection shows $15,353.10 as outstanding balances. There were no FOIL requests for the month of September. Michael Salm, Sherpa, continues to modify and improve our server. Along with that are the email issues that many of you have experienced. He is striving to eliminate those problems as well. There have been broad band over charges due to the downloads and patches required for the new server. I initially provided the information from the Finger Lakes Technologies Group as a cost saving measure. Our biggest cost is our internet provider. Sherpa has made a suggestion to look at Time Warner Cable as another alternative. I will contact them regarding a comparison quote during October and send this information to you once it is received. I would like to put this information back on the table – a new Roth 457 offered by the Deferred Comp Plan available to employees. If you decided to offer this plan (no cost to the Village; it would be a payroll deduction), it would be to provide information to all employees the month of October with a target date of January 1st to begin the program. The Village office took many calls regarding the confusing dates of collection for the Tompkins County recycling program and I put a revised schedule in the latest Courier. This has shown me that most everyone in the Village actually reads this green brochure. The other visits that to the office were to purchase garbage tags, pay tax and water bills, or to have documents notarized. Finally, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to attend the NYCOM conference in Saratoga Springs. The week long conference was amazing and intense. I learned a lot, took lots of notes; which I will share with you if you are interested. I may be making “suggestions” based on the information from this conference.
