Cross, Engineer Village of Cayuga Heights MARCHAM HALL 836 HANSHAW ROAD ITHACA, NEW YORK 14850 (607) 257-1238 fax (607) 257-4910 Highlights of the June 13 Trustees Meeting Mayor Supron asked for a minute of silence in memory of former Mayor Walter Lynn and read a message of condolence from the Village staff and trustees. A public hearing on Local Law “H” was held. This law relates to expected attendance at meetings of the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals. One person spoke in favor of the law, none against. Privilege of the floor - Comments related to the fence ordinance, deer herd reduction, experience of the trustees and the lawsuit filed against the Village. The Board went into executive session to discuss legal matters relating to the pending lawsuit. Approved minutes of 4/27, 5/9 and 5/27. Department reports Fire Chief - Garage sale was successful, new fire truck having warrantee work done, about 1/3 of calls typically are from the Town of Ithaca. Assistant Superintendent of Public Works - Pleasant Grove bus shelter being worked on, the Kendal crosswalk might be done by the end of June, series of water main breaks in the Forest Drive area which have been addressed and steps are being taken to find a long term solution. Be advised that there are coyotes within the Village. Take care with pets and small children. Also reported have been some aggressive female deer, probably because of the presence of their fawns. Mayor - TCAT board is not interested in making any route changes at the moment. Stop signs at the intersection of The Parkway and Northway were made permanent by resolution. The new Treasurer, Steve Greenberg, was introduced. The architect of the proposed renovation will speak at the July Trustees meeting. IT needs are being addressed by Sherpa Sean Cunningham appointed to Planning Board to replacing Mark Morris Local Law “H” passed. Resolution to adopt the Pegasys Community Access Television budget for staff & equipment passed. Police Chief – Two new part-time officers are being trained by seasoned officers as to the routine of the Police Department. The Chief and Mayor will sign an application for the NYS Federal Excess Property Program – this will allow the Village to purchase excess property owned by other government agencies at a cost saving value. Superintendent of Public Works – The following roads will be scheduled for paving this year: Cayuga Hgts Rd, West Upland to East Upland, and Oak Hill Rd. A potential claim concerning a manhole cover has come to the attention of the Village. The Treasurer and Attorney will work with the Supt of Public Works to address. Requests have been made to erect Children at Play signs and Sheldon Rd owners indicate they would like to see a sidewalk poured. A public hearing will be scheduled for the July 11th Board of Trustee meetings on proposed Local Law Village Clerk – The Clerk reminded the Board that the phone systems need to be updated. She was requested to have All-Mode give a more detailed report before making a decision. Treasurer – The Treasurer has submitted his first Abstract and Supplemental Abstract and is continuing to learn the duties of the treasurer. He also spoke about potential use of contingency funds to pay for the much needed server and phone system. Trustee Privilege of the Floor – Planning Board member, Graham Gilispie has invited the Trustees to attend the next several Planning Board meetings (June 27th, July 25th and Aug 29th) as they will be concentrating on the Comprehensive Plan as it continues to develop. Planning Board member, Martin Harms indicated they would like to make a presentation to the Board of Trustees at the Sept 12th BoT meeting. The Trustees approved a resolution honoring former Treasurer Jeffrey Silber for his dedication and expertise working as the Treasurer for the Village of Cayuga Heights over the last 22 years. A question of clarification was asked regarding the fencing, options relating to exclosures and developing a definition for exclosures. The meeting adjourned at 10:30 PM.
