HomeMy WebLinkAboutCB Minutes 2022-05-02 Town of Ithaca Conservation Board Meeting May 5, 2022,5:30 pm (via Zoom Video Conference) Final Minutes Members Present: Lori Brewer, Lindsay Dombroskie, Mike Roberts Staff: Michael Smith, Senior Planner 1. Persons to be heard: (none) 2. Member concerns: o Crossing at Game Farm 3. Environmental Review Committee: o Two proposals for this past month. Both subdivisions:Coddington and Sheffield Roads. Neither had details that raised concerns. o For next month,there are two proposals in front of the committee at the moment that are under review. o Lindsay-the Environmental Impact Statement for Holochuck is extensive and the whole committee should look at it. May 18t"there will be a meeting that all members of the committee should be present for. Lori will send assignments to the committee. 4. Chair and Coordinator reports: Lori (none) Mike Smith o Open gov.—application is getting push off another month. o The website is going to go online when the open gov end is complete. o Lori mentioned that she has been using the OneDrive account, but can't delete or move files. Mike will check on options/settings. 5. Approval of minutes: no quorum—wait until next month 6. Fischer award ceremony will be May 25t"at 6:15 at Tareyton Park. Burr Oaks will be planted. o Mike is working on the press release. o Plaque is getting engraved. o Lori will determine if Joe will be staking where the trees will go. 7. Invasive Species Awareness Week: o James suggested by email that we hold an event on June 9t", 5-7 p.m. at East Shore Park.There's a good location with the pavilion. o There are plenty of handouts still available to use left over from previous events. o Social media posts could be recycled from previous years. 8. Regular reports and updates: o Scenic Resources Committee-The lease for the next sign is in process with the Town attorney and a draft was sent to Cornell Real Estate. o Communication Committee-JoAnn has been in communication with the Wednesday Farmer Market coordinators and secured a table. We could attend once a month to let the public know 1 about the conservation board, and to provide education information and potentially recruit. Elise expressed interest in helping with this once-a-month effort. o Tompkins County EMC-The group has been having regular presentations by guest speakers.Their most recent was on green burials. Green Springs (h_ittp://www.riatraralbrarial.org/) is a NY-based ecologically-friendly burial ground that is also a nature preserve.The EMC is trying to garner more information from the municipal representatives but has had trouble engaging with them due to lack of interest.They will visit the Durfee Hill UNA as apart of their effort to prioritize them. Other Business: o The Board discussed scrapping the August meeting since some were likely to be present elsewhere.We can discuss this at the June meeting. o We do not yet know if we will be able to meet virtually by Zoom next month.We will have a Zoom meeting in June and work out later if we can do so again for future months. 10.
