HomeMy WebLinkAboutCB Minutes 2018-07-12 Town of Ithaca Conservation Board July 12th, 2018 5:43 p.m. (held at Tutelo Park pavilion) Final minutes Members present: Michael Roberts (Chair), Will VanDyke (Vice-chair), James Hamilton, Eva Hoffmann, Jon Meigs, Lindsay Dombroskie, Hannah George Staff: N/A Guests: N/A 1. Persons to be heard: N/A 2. Member Concerns: Eva would like to make sure we review possible solutions to the SRC sign posting on 96B. 3. Regular Reports and Updates: a. Environmental Review Committee: Mike R. provided an update on the two projects that are under review and also in parts of a UNA. The parcel that's close to Treman State Park is making ample provisions. The other parcel is also making provisions and Mike spoke to botanist Robert Wesley about that site and he did not share concerns about the conservation of this specific plot. We discussed procedure options and what if any legal requirements when a parcel is noted to be in a UNA. Our procedure involves many options including site visits, map review, drive-bys and land owner communication. b. Scenic Resources Committee: No update c. Communications Committee: Mike provided an update on the interview that he did via WHCU about the invasive species. d. Tompkins County EMC: N/A e. Six Mile Creek Volunteer Monitoring Program:James noted that the Lansing Rod & Gun club is looking for help in testing for lead at their spot that oversees Salmon Creek. BMI specialists are holding a series of family picnics to promote volunteering. Being held on the 9th & 13th of August at Upper and Lower Buttermilk respectively. f. Cornell Botanic Gardens Natural Areas Program: A new bridge at Monkey Run. g. Deer Management Committee: N/A Following the brief meeting, the Conservation Board held a public invasive species event in Tutelo Park in conjunction with the NY Invasive Species Awareness Week.
