HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-06-19 TOWN OF DANBY PLANNING BOARD MINUTES JUNE 19, 2008 PRESENT: Chairperson Robert Roe Planning Board Members: Dave Mastroberti, Ted Melchen, Naomi Strichartz, Ray Van de Bogart, Olivia Vent Excused: Anne Klingensmith Others Present: Carol Sczepanski - Secretary Susan Beeners - Code Enforcement Officer Joel Gagnon-Alternate Planning Board Member Leslie Connors - Liaison Members of the Public Ronda Roaring, Esther Dotson, Chairperson Roe called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Danby Community Park Esther Dotson addressed the Planning Board and gave an update on the Community Park Planning. They are applying for a NYS Grant as they now want to turn their property into a park. The first thing that they have in mind is a cut and fill migration which will make the area twenty(20) dry acres where they really want to make baseball fields. The youth groups have volunteered to work on the trails. There will be one expensive trail to do. Trees will be put along the park on the west side of the road. It is rare that ball games are held in the evening. Whether there will be horse trails is unknown at this time. Ray Van de Bogart suggested thinking about a generator for lighting. Esther asked Chairperson Roe to approve a letter of support from the Planning Board to be submitted with their grant application. Status Report- Steering Committee Chairperson Roe reported that letters have been sent out for the Steering Committee. Carol Sczepanski reported that letters have been sent out on behalf of the Planning Board to persons who may be interested in serving on the steering committee. They were asked to respond by July 10 and we have received two (2)responses at this time. Susan Beeners said that we need to look at the schedule. The Steering Committee should be finalized by no later than the July 17th meeting. There will be a consultant meeting on August 7th Danby Fun Day-July 26, 2008 2 Planning Board Minutes June 19, 2008 Susan Beeners presented the advertising poster for the 2008 Danby Fund Day for the Planning Board to review. The DEMPC tent is coming together and will have kids games. The theme is "Preparedness Starts With You in Your Neighborhood" and are you interested in helping in your neighborhood. Alternative Energy Information Supervisor Dietrich is working providing information alternative wind energy, turbines and a hybrid streetlight. Betsy Keokosky may have something on alternative fuels. Sue asked the Planning Board to help man the display (probably will be in the book tent) for one hour each to help work the crowd. Ray and Ted offered to work the lunch hour; Bob Roe - 9to 10; Dave 10-11 or to work the crowd. Possibly making tags to help identify neighbors. Hamlet Planning-Meeting with Consultants Susan reported that she is looking at public meetings in late September or early October - dates will be set by the consultants. Dates should be set before August 7 kick-off meeting. She is not sure what the consultants want to do as far as meetings go. The Steering Committee will be selected(or approved) on July 17, 2008. Letters will be sent out to a preferred list and regarding their willingness to serve on the Steering Committee with a request that they respond by July 10. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Naomi Strichartz and seconded by Dave Mastroberti that the Planning Board of the Town of Danby approves the May 15, 2008 Planning Board minutes as submitted.
