NEW BUSINESS Amendment to Authorized Dates of Temporary Position – Energy Sustainability Project Manager At the May 12, 2010 Civil Service Commission meeting, the Commission authorized the creation of a temporary position of Energy Sustainability Project Manager for one year, for the period August 1, 2010 through July 31, 2011. It took much longer to fill the position than originally anticipated; the position was not filled until April 20, 2011. Because the Planning Department received funding for a twelve month position, the Commission discussed amending the authorized dates of the position to allow for a full twelve month appointment to the position. Commissioner Abrams made a motion to amend the authorized dates for the temporary Energy Sustainability Project Manager position to April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012, to allow the Planning Department to make full use of its grant funding. Seconded by Commissioner Richardson. Motion carried 3-0. Revision of Minimum Qualifications: Data Entry Specialist The Commission reviewed and discussed a request from Deputy Human Resources Director Saul to expand the Data Entry Specialist minimum qualifications to provide credit for keyboarding experience or training. Keyboarding experience or training should provide the speed and accuracy necessary to successfully perform the job duties of a Data Entry Specialist. Commissioner Richardson made a motion to amend the minimum qualifications for Data Entry Specialist to read as follows: “MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, supplemented by either a course in data entry or keyboarding, or twelve (12) months of data entry or keyboarding experience.” Seconded by Commissioner Thompson.
