ELECTION OF CHAIRPERSON Commissioner Eastman made a motion to elect Commissioner Richardson as Chairperson of the Civil Service Commission. Seconded by Commissioner Richardson. Motion carried 2-0. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Eastman made a motion to approve the minutes of the December 7, 2005 meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Richardson. Motion carried 2-0. NEW BUSINESS New Position Duties Statement and Adoption of Job Description: DPW/S&F – Forestry Technician The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Streets and Facilities Division of the Department of Public Works and the proposed job description for Forestry Technician. Commissioner Richardson made a motion to classify the position as Forestry Technician and adopt the job description as proposed. Seconded by Commissioner Eastman. Motion carried 2-0. New Position Duties Statement: DPW/S&F – Light Equipment Operator The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Streets and Facilities Division of the Department of Public Works. Commissioner Richardson made a motion to classify the position as Light Equipment Operator. Seconded by Commissioner Eastman. Motion carried 2-0. Civil Service Commission January 4, 2006 Page 2 Request to Accept Late Application Deputy Human Resources Director Saul presented a request to the Civil Service Commission to accept a late application from Dale Parker for the GIAC Program Leader Examination #60-017. The original application was not received in the Human Resources Department in a timely manner due to an internal miscommunication between HR and GIAC. Commissioner Richardson made a motion to accept Dale Parker’s application for the GIAC Program Leader Examination #60-017. Seconded by Commissioner Eastman. Motion carried 2-0. EXECUTIVE SESSION Commissioner Richardson made a motion to enter into executive session to discuss a Section 72 proceeding and civil service examination matters. Seconded by Commissioner Eastman. Motion carried 2-0. During executive session, the Commission took the following actions: Appointment of Section 72 Medical Officer Commissioner Richardson made a motion to appoint Dr. Richard Maxwell as the medical officer for an independent medical examination to be conducted pursuant to Section 72 of NYS Civil Service Law. Seconded by Commissioner Eastman. Motion carried 2-0. CONTINUING BUSINESS Approval of Rosters of Candidates for Examination Commissioner Richardson made a motion to approve the Rosters of Candidates for Examination listed below. Seconded by Commissioner Eastman. Motion carried 2-0. Seconded by Commissioner Eastman. Motion carried 2-0. Civil Service Commission January 4, 2006 Page 3 Addition of Names to Continuous Recruitment Eligibility Lists Commissioner Richardson made a motion to add names to the continuous recruitment eligible lists. Seconded by Commissioner Eastman. Motion carried 2-0. Approval of Personnel Transactions Commissioner Eastman made a motion to approve the Personnel Transactions. Seconded by Commissioner Richardson. Motion carried 2-0. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 11:32 am.
