Discussion with staff on the proposed Personnel Policy
Town of Ulysses
September 19, 2014

The meeting was held at the Ulysses Town Hall at 10 Elm Street, Trumansburg.
PRESENT:
Supervisor- Liz Thomas
Board members- Rich Goldman, John Hertzler, Nancy Zahler
Clerk- Carissa Parlato
StafFemployees: Jim Meeker, Alex Rachun, Angie Champion, Steve Manciocchi, Patty Halloran,
Dave Reynolds, Chris Stevenson, Darby Kiley, Michelle Wright
ABSENT: Fred Dean, David Kerness
Ms. Thomas called the meeting to order at 9:05am and stated the purpose of the meeting.
Items discussed:
Call-in Pay- the board agreed to amend this policy from 4 hours to 2 hours pay so that workers are
compensated fairly and tax payers are not over -burdened.
Sick Leave - the proposed policy states that sick leave be used in increments of 4 hours. The board
agreed to change this to 30 minutes.
Vacation Leave- the board amended the policy from 6 vacation days to 10 after 1 year of
employment.
Health Insurance- based on employee concerns, the board committed to giving all employees a
raise in 2015 to help offset the increased health care costs to employees.
With no further comments, Mr. Goldman made a motion to close the meeting at 10:21am, seconded by
Mr. Hertzler. Staff/employees were excused at this time.
The board reconvened at 10:25am to plan for the upcoming Public Hearing on code enforcement as
well as the joint Planning Board/Town Board meeting; and discuss BZA rules and procedures.
Mr. Rachun returned and explained the differences in code enforcement and zoning.
Ms. Kiley joined in the conversation.
Mr. Goldman made a motion to adjourn the meeting at11:11 am, seconded by Ms. Zahler.
