PLANNING BOARD MINUTES
FEBRUARY 21, 2008

Chairperson Robert Roe called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Addition to the Agenda- Ray Van de Bogart would like to talk about what assistance we might
receive from the possible Task Force as far as Hamlet Planning and what we are going to do for the
year 2008.
Finger Lakes Land Trust:
Rocci Aguirre from Finger Lakes Land Trust gave a presentation on the activities in the Lick Brook
Park. She would like to share information on the NYS Conservation Easement Tax Credit. A report
was given on a planning project that is underway that involves the Finger Lakes Trail throughout the
whole region.
Danby Community Park Association
Ken Horst the President of the Danby Community Park Association gave the history of the funding
and an update on the Danby Community Park Association. He reported on the grants that they have
received. The board members were asked to give input on what they their interests were and what
they would like to see as far as the park is concerned and the community center. They are open for
suggestions.
Ken answered questions from the board regarding the trails in the park plans.
RESOLUTION NO. 1 OF 2008
RECOMMENDATION TO TOWN BOARD FOR PLANNING BOARD CHAIRPERSON

RESOLVED,that the Planning Board of the Town of Danby recommends to the Town Board of the
Town of Danby the appointment of Robert Roe as Chairperson of the Planning Board for the year
2008.

Meeting of the Old Task Force
Ray Van de Bogart reported on that the Town Board has asked that the Old Task Force have another
meeting to see if they want to continue to meet and what their contribution would be. Would some
of their role be to help the Planning Board on their Hamlet Planning subcommittees. A meeting was
scheduled for April 17, 2008 but will be rescheduled.
There are many residents who would like to be involved in the Hamlet Planning.
Ray Van de Bogart said that the first thing the Planning Board needs to do is define where this
hamlet is to be.
Chairperson Roe said that he would like copies of the Pendall report for the Planning Board
members.
Proposed Danby Community Store Update
Susan Beeners gave an update on the status of the Danby Store Committee. Almost 200 surveys
have been received. Twenty-five people have indicated that they would be interested in working on
a committee.
Broadband Grant Application
Susan Beeners reported that a grant has been submitted to obtain wireless internet service for Town
of Danby residents. She described the requests in the grant application the Town is requesting.
Aquifer Study
One well has been drilled on the Town Highway Property. The site at the Danby Community Park
has not been drilled and has been deferred until spring. There will be new sites.
Town of Caroline Planning Board Request
Susan Barr who is Chairperson of the Town of Caroline Planning Board sent a letter to the Danby
Planning Board requesting that surrounding towns join a consortium. The consortium is to explore
the future of the South Hill recreation way through Caroline to the county line.

RESOLVED,that the Planning Board of the Town of Danby approves in concept the creation of a
consortium that will the Town of Caroline to explore the future of the South Hill Recreation Way
through Caroline to the county line.
