Ms. Marino called the Public Hearing to order at 6:30 p.m.
Ms. Marino said that the subject of tonight's Public Hearing is to hear public comments on the
proposed Town of Ulysses Ambulance District as described in the document entitled Map, Plan
and Report for the Town of Ulysses Ambulance District, which was put forward by the Town
Board by resolution at the Regular Town Board meeting held February 11, 2013. The "Order for
Public Hearing for Establishing of Ambulance District in the Town of Ulysses" appeared on the
Town web site and was published in the Ithaca Journal on February 15, 2013. The draft Map,
Plan and Report describing the proposed Ambulance District has been available since the public
hearing was set by the Town Board on the Town web site and copies available from the Town
Clerk.
The purpose of this Public Hearing is to afford the general public the opportunity to make public
comments and statements about the proposed Ulysses Ambulance District. This is a public
hearing as required by New York State Law when a Town considers establishing a special
improvement district and in this case an ambulance district. It is not a question and answer
session nor an opportunity for debate.
Comments and statements will be taken into consideration by the Town Board before any action
is taken at the Town Board Regular meeting on March 12, 2013.
If the Town Board decides to adopt a resolution establishing the proposed Ambulance District
that resolution will be subject to a permissive referendum. Ms. Marino explained the procedure.
Ms. Marino opened the floor for comments.
David Wilcox question why the Town needed to go to an ambulance district which would cost a
lot more for the residents and what is wrong staying with the Trumansburg Ambulance. He
wanted to know if the Town wanted to micromanage the ambulance or what.

Working Town Board Meeting
February 26, 2013
Ms. Marino did address Mr. Wilcox briefly to clarify that the Town is not proposing to establish
their own ambulance service and that is not the proposal at hand. The proposal is to establish an
ambulance district within the area of the Town outside the Village of Trumansburg.
Mr. Romer said he would be happy to talk with Mr. Wilcox outside the meeting.
Mr. Wilcox declined Mr. Romer's invitation and said he knew there were personal vendettas
against the Fire Department.
Ms. Thomas also addressed Mr. Wilcox's concerns.
John G. Wertis said that he was very pleased with the proposal and feels that the Town
Board is doing the right thing.
Ron MacLean said he had no comments and was here tonight to listen to other residents
comments.
Ms. Marino asked for any other comments and hearing done she did wait for a few more minutes
in case anyone came late.
Hearing no further comments Ms. Marino closed the public hearing at 6:42 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Marsha L. Georgia
Ulysses Town Clerk
