Present : Chairperson-Ken Zeserson, Board Members : Stan Beames,
Rod Hawkes, Rebecca Schneider, John Wertis, Town Board Member David Kerness,
Excused : Rod Porter, Rick Rainey
Mr. Zeserson called the meeting to order he stated the main objective is to review the
stream and a few other sections then hopefully present this to the Town Board. There is a
discussion on the level of the Town Board as to whether the Conservation Zone and
Lakefront Zoning would go in tandem or be presented individually. Be that as it may it is
a decision to be made by the Town Board. It was noted that they could save money if
they had the attorney/consultant review them both at the same time vs . individually.
A discussion regarding hiring Bergmann to review the Conservation Zone and a
presentation of such to the Town Board was held . Mr. Hawkes stated he would represent
the committee at the Town Board on June 21st•
Mr. Wertis presented information from Mr. DeMunn and Brett Chedzoy were working on
forestry management suggestions for the Town of Ithaca. Peter Small who is a NYS
Forester came back with some suggestions for the Board .
A lengthy conversation was held with the members editing and revising the timber
harvesting sections of the Conservation Zone. The document was reviewed for last
minutes changes, corrections, etc . The need to allow a resident cut down wood for their
own use vs . commercial use. There are residents who have planted trees specifically for
harvesting, if the situation came before the Board would this be allowable . The members
agreed they are not trying to prevent this type of harvesting. This Board would like to
preserve the steep slopes, manage the conservation zone using smart development. It is a
unique area and the small efforts show results, the larger efforts will preserve this area for
generations .
The members agreed once the draft was edited with changes from this meeting they
would forward to the Town Board. Mr. Zeserson asked Mr. Hawkes to prepare the draft
and email to members . Mr. Zeserson would email the FINAL DRAFT to the Town Board
members . The members agreed this would be a good arrangement and are satisfied with
this version of the draft. It was discussed that if any Town Board member had questions
they should feel free to contact the Planning Board members for questions .
Mr. Zeserson stated Ms . Carlisle Peck had provided a list of minutes to be approved. The
minutes had been sent via email previously.
Mr. Zeserson MADE the MOTION, Ms . Schneider SECONDED the MOTION to
approve the minutes of 02/02/ 10, 03/02/ 10, 03/ 16/ 10,04/06/ 10, 04/20/ 10, 04/22/ 10,
05/04/ 10, 05/ 19/ 10 .
The VOTE on the MOTION was unanimous, MINUTES APPROVED .
