HomeMy WebLinkAboutRTTF 2023-09-18 Dryden Rail Trail Friends and Task Force Minutes of the Monday, September 18, 2023 Meeting 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. (Hybrid Meeting) Dryden Town Hall 93 East Main Street, Dryden Barbara Caldwell Conference Room Attendees: Task Force Members: Susan Ashdown; Todd Bittner; Rosalie Borzik; Tony Bretscher; Alice Walsh Green; Judy Pierpont; Chris Tessaglia-Hymes. Town Board Liasions: n/a Guests: Dan Antonioli, Diane Tessaglia-Hymes, Jacob Yatsko. Absent: Bob Beck, Steve Winans, Town Board Liason Call to order at 7:04 p.m. by Alice Green August meeting minutes unanimously approved. Quarter-mile Signs Update (Diane): The second printing of the quarter-mile signs was successful. Once the DPW installs the posts at marked locations, Bob will begin installing the signs from both ends of the trail, on opposite sides of the trail. Eleven were printed without numbers from each sheet of dibond and are available if any replacements are needed in the future. Video of “Connect the Trails! Fest” produced by Shire Evergreen – Review and Discussion (Susan): The video file download had not completed before meeting adjourned. Once complete Susan will forward a link to the file to Task Force members for review. Comments must be submitted to Diane T-H by September 26 for compilation and forwarding to Shira. Additions to the Meeting Agenda: Route 13 Bridge Area Update (Todd): Still awaiting DOT approval, so construction bidding has not begun. This is the prime time for Japanese Knotweed control (when flowers are in full bloom), so Cornell Botanic Gardens staff are preparing for control effort in the Cornell easement area. Susan: The stone application (quarry blocks) at the trail connector at the end of Forest Lane has not yet happened. Memorial Benches Update (Judy): Donations totaling $1250 have been collected to honor the late Martha Ferger. A check will be presented at the next Town Board meeting. A bench location will be selected for installation on the trail and a memorial plaque will be ordered. Upon completion of agenda items, with a quorum of DRT Task Force members being present, a motion was made by Chris Tessaglia-Hymes to move to Executive Session to discuss possible legislative action. Chris motioned to include non-member Diane Tessaglia-Hymes in Executive Session as she is directly related to the issue. Both motions were unanimously accepted. Task Force Meeting Adjourned at 8:00 p.m. Executive Session commenced at 8:05 p.m. Dryden Rail Trail Task Force Members present: Susan Ashdown; Todd Bittner; Rosalie Borzik; Tony Bretscher; Alice Walsh Green; Judy Pierpont; Chris Tessaglia-Hymes. The Executive Committee reviewed and unanimously approved a motion to request the Town of Dryden apply for a U.S. trademark for the Dryden Rail Trail logo design. Executive Session adjourned at 8:45 p.m. Next scheduled meeting: Monday, October 16, 2023 at 7 p.m.; open to the public at the Dryden Town Hall Barbara Caldwell Conference Room and via Zoom.
