HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-10-07TOWN OF DRYDEN TOWN BOARD MEETING & BUDGET WORKSHOP October 7, 2021 Present: Supervisor Jason Leifer, Cl Daniel Lamb, Cl James Skaley, Cl Loren Sparling, Cl Leonardo Vargas-Mendez Elected Officials: Rick Young, Highway/DPW Superintendent Other Town Staff: Amanda Anderson, Bookkeeper Jules Ravo, Justice Deborah Gallagher, Court Clerk Taylor Turcsik, Court Clerk Supv Leifer opened the meeting at 6:00 p.m. He explained that the Highway/DPW Superintendent will need to utilize reserves in order to make the purchases for trucks that were recently approved and presented two resolutions for consideration. Resolution #154 (2021) - Authorizing the expenditure of the current balance of the Town of Dryden DPW Equipment Capital Reserve Fund Supv Leifer offered the following resolution and asked for its adoption: Whereas, the town board of the Town of Dryden, Tompkins County, New York, established the “Town of Dryden DPW Equipment Capital Reserve Fund” by resolution adopted October 14, 2009, and Whereas, the purpose of such capital reserve fund was to set aside funds to pay for some or all of the costs of the costs of acquisition of DPW equipment or machinery, and Whereas, expenditures from such capital reserve fund may be made only with the approval of the town board pursuant to the General Municipal Law 6 -c, and Whereas, it has been determined that the town DPW department needs to acquire a new 2023 Western Star cab and chassis with plow body package that wi ll be used for plowing Town owned property and was approved by the town board on September 9, 2021, resolution #148, September 16, 2021, now Therefore, be it resolved as follows: 1. The expenditure of the current balance ($67,049.66 as of 9/30/2021) from th e Town of Dryden Highway Equipment Capital Reserve Fund to be used toward the purchase price of a new 2023 Western Star Cab and chassis with plow body package is hereby authorized. 2. This resolution is subject to a permissive referendum as provided in Article Seven of the Town Law. 3. The Town Clerk is hereby authorized and directed, within ten (10) days of the adoption of this resolution, to publish in the official newspaper and post on the town signboard a notice setting forth the date of adoption of this resolution and an abstract of such resolution all as required by Town Law Section 90.
