Present: Christina Dravis, Dana Magnuson, Janice Bretscher
1. Identification of Potential Shelter Locations in Town of Dryden and nearby Communities
a. Partial List generated by Janice, will complete list for next meeting
b. Review of FEMA guidelines for shelter managment by Christina
c. Shelter Management Training in Tompkins County, through American Red Cross,
requested by Amateur Radio Club
2. Tompkins County Healthy Neighborhood Program
a. Janice contacted TCHNP (Diana Crouch) to offer assistance from S&P Committee to
advertise program to Town of Dryden Residents
i. Diana Crouch and Pat Jebbett, from TCHNP, will give presentation to S&P
Committee at next meeting - March 2, 2020 at 7pm
ii. Diana Crouch and Pat Jebbett will do home visit at Janice's to introduce
program on Feb. 7, 2020
3. Town of Dryden CERT
a. Finalizing Organization of next CERT Basic Training Course
i. Location: Varna Fire Station
iii. Instructors identified
a. Confirming dates/day of week for late March - mid-May
iv. Begin advertising when dates are confirmed
b. Application process to become a CERT member
i. Requirements
a. Successful Completion of Basic CERT Training Course
b. Proof of completion of ICS 100, ICS 200 and ICS 700 within 3 months of
completion of Basic Training Course
c. Proof of completion of Basic Background Check through Tompkins
County Sheriff's Office within 3 months of Basic Training Course
d. Discussion about including an interview component to CERT Team
application process by some members of S&P Committee
4. Borger Compressor Station
a. Gas (mercaptan) odor noted on EH Nature Preserve
i. Katie reported that NYSEG has equipment to test for gas leaks
ii. Katie will contact the NYSEG Regional Office to request monitoring of gas
leaks in the area of the EH Nature Preserve
5. S&P Committee Membership
a. Recruitment of new member
i. Dana will contact Glen Hughes who previously expressed interest in the
committee to ask if he would be interested in joining the committee
b. Request again for Town to list S&P committee on their Volunteer Advisory
Committee Application Form
