ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
DECEMBER 17 , 1974
An adjourned Meeting ' of the ' Town of Ithaca Zoning Board . of
Appeals was held on Tuesday , December 17 , 1974 , at 5 .: 00 p . m . in
the Town of Ithaca Offices , 108 East Green Street , Ithaca ,. N . Y .
( third floor ) .
PRESENT : Chairman Peter Francese , Laurene Ripley , . Edward King ,
Edward Austen ,
ABSENT : Jack Hewett ,
ALSO PRESENT : Lawrence P . Fabbroni ( Building ' Inspector ) ,
Reynolds Metz . ( Assistant Building Inspector ) .
CONTINUATION OF APPEAL OF KOPPERS INC . FOR FENCING PROPERTY ' AND
BURYING SOLVENT TANK .
Chairman Francese opened the Meeting at 5 : 05 p . m . and declared
that this was an adjourned meeting from a Public Hearing held on
the Koppers ' Appeal on November 26 , 1974 , and adjourned to - December
10 , ; 197. 4 , and adjourned again to this date .
Following a brief discussion , it was MOVED by Mrs . Laurene Ripley
and seconded by Mr . Peter Francese that it be
RESOLVED , that the Zoning ,Board of Appeals _ of - the • Town of Ithaca
approve and hereby does approve the . , appliccition of Koppers , Inc . for
permission to erect a six foot ( 61 ) high chain link fence around their
property , known • as Town of Ithaca Tax Parcel No . 59 - 1 - 1 . The fence
along the Easterly part of the property `to . ,be . within the Railroad right
of way and approximately along the line of the existing retaining wall ,
and parallel to the railroad tracks with agate at the Southeast corner ,
and thence the fence to extend Westerly within- said Koppers ' property
five feet ( 51 ) North of 'the North line of Town • of . Ithaca Tax Parcels
Nos . 59 - 1 - 2 and 59 - 1 - 3 , 1 .' e . , North of the property of Schickel and .
North of the other parcel owned' by Koppers , Inc . , and thence the fence
to extend along the Vine Street side,, i . e . , . the Westerly - side , of the
said . Koppers ' property and to be ' located on a line tangent with the
Easterly face of the three utility poles known . as poles nos . L- 704 - 1 - 1 ,
L- 704 - 1 - 2 , and L- 704 - 1 - 3 , and thence the fence along the. North side of
said Koppers ' property to be located approximately. --- sixty feet ( 601 .)
South of the North apex of the property , and
BE • IT FURTHER RESOLVED , that said Zoning Board of .. Appeals of said
Town of Ithaca authorize . and 'herebyN does authorize Koppers , Inc . to
bury the 10 , 000 gallon .. kerosene solvent tank designated as # 36 on the
sketch annexed to their letter of April 20 , 1967 . Said tank to be
buried North of and about adjacent to the North side of . the existing
driveway which runs between .Tank # 34 and ' Item # 35 on said sketch and
said tank to be buried upon. the understanding that no other surface .
or subsurface tank or structure shall be erected or buried in its . place .
There . being no further . disdussion , the Chairman called for a vote .

Carried unanimously .
