ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
JULY 85 1969
Minutes of the meeting of the Ithaca Zoning Board of Appeals
was held July 8 , 1969 at the Town Offices , 108 E . Green
Street , Ithaca , New York commencing at 7 : 30 P . M .
PRESENT : David Powers , Chairman
Robert Powers
Anselm Soyring
Loran Marion
David Cowan , Zoning Officer
Edward P . Riley , Town Clerk
ABSENT . Roger Sovocool
ALSO PRESENT : Ronald E . Prouty
Roy Compton
The meeting was called to order at 7 :30 P . M .
Mr . Cowan presented Proofs of Publication .
VARIANCE - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - RONALD E . PROUTY
512 CODDINGTON ROAD
Mr . Prouty had been denied a permit for erection of a residence
closer to lot line than permitted by Zoning Ordinance . Permit
was denied by Zoning Officer Cowan under Article V. Section 21
of the Zoning Ordinance .
Discussion was short and thorough mainly concerning the saving of
large and beautiful trees , present utility pole is in way of pro -
posed drive , and would permit line up of drive with garage would
be .
A motion was made by Mr . Loran Marion and seconded by Mr . Soyring
that the variance be granted , on the following findings of
fact .
1 Spirit of ordinance observed
2 Traffic not adversely affected
3 Scenic beauty will be retained
An all " aye " vote carried .

MINUTES OF HEARING
FORMAT - CHANGE
Chairman Power discussed revisions of format presently used . Mr .
Soyring and Mr . Marion made suggestions and it was decided
that Chairman Powers would present the revised format at the
next meeting .

Mr . Cowan discussed possible zoning ordinance violations at Mr .
Pichel ' s properties , and displayed a statement from Mr . ' Pichel
confirming and advising Mr . Cot-aan of his intent to continue
his practice of renting " Family units " as defined under " old "
zoning ordinance . Mr . Cowan will issue him no building permits
will further discuss the matter with the Town Board on August
11 , 1969 .
