1. Review of Grant Writing Workshop, by Robin Schwartz, on 8-13-19, attended by Janice
and Tony
a. Power Point Presentation Slides shared with committee
i. Key points discussed
ii. Funders directory (hsctc.org/funders) shared
2. Rotary Club of Ithaca Community Grant Program
a. Submitted proposal for Aug. 2, 2019 deadline
i. Requested funds for uniforms and equipment for Town of Dryden CERT
members
b. Expecting to hear outcome soon
3. Set up of Town of Dryden CERT Bank Account – Dana
a. Two members of committee to be signatories on bank account – Dana and Janice
b. Dana will contact Tompkins Trust Company, CFCU and AFCU
c. In response to guidance from Supervisor Jason Leifer, who indicated “If the CERT
Program wants to receive donations and grants directly it has to be separate from
the committee and should be setup as a non-profit corporation or LLC. If it is a
Town program then the committee can apply for grants that are then received by
the Town and directed towards the CERT program”. The committee discussed
whether the CERT Program could be administered through the Town of Dryden S&P
Committee, with a separate non-profit entity devoted to raising money to support
the program.
4. Citizen Preparedness Training – Sept. 17, 2019 at Neptune Hose Company #1 in Dryden,
NY, 7:00pm
a. Advertised widely
b. Invite Town of Dryden Fire Depts. to attend and table at event to recruit new
members
c. Town of Dryden CERT to table at event to promote program and recruit individuals
for CERT Training Course this Fall.
5. Town of Dryden CERT
a. Trainings scheduled at Varna Fire Station
i. Seven consecutive Mondays beginning on Sept. 30, 2019 from 6:30-9pm
with Culmination Simulation Drill on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019
b. Advertise CERT Training to recruit several more individuals to attend Training
Course
