SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING
JANUARY 17, 2004
Present : Supervisor Austic ; Councilpeople Lee Scott, Robert Weatherby, Don Ellis and
Roxanne Marino ; Town Clerk Marsha L. Georgia .
Meeting started before Clerk was present — a Special Town Board Meeting was
scheduled for February 7th, 2004 at 8 : 30 AM and invites the Planning Board Members to
attend and encourage their participation. It was also decided that the meeting would go
no longer than 11 : 30 AM .
A long discussion (tape available for verbatim discussion) followed about the hiring and
duties of Deputy Supervisor position definition and the definition of a Confidential
Assistant.
Ms . Marino and Mr. Ellis do not feel comfortable that a non-elected official run the
meeting with the absence of the Supervisor. It was decided that Mr. Scott would be an
appointed Deputy Supervisor to officiate at the meetings when the Supervisor was
unavailable.
Ms . Marino moved, seconded by Mr. Ellis the following :
WHEREAS Lee Scott was appointed as Deputy Supervisor ( 1 ) to officiate at Town
Board Meetings in the absence of the Supervisor Austic and,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of Ulysses will advertise the
position of Deputy Supervisor (2) under the definitions previously adopted at the Regular
Town Board Meeting held January 13 , 2004 for a period of two (2) weeks in the Ithaca
Journal and Trumansburg Free Press and,
FURTHER RESOLVE the appointed Deputy Supervisor (2) attends Town Board
Meetings in the absence of the Supervisor but does not run the Town Board Meetings in
the absence of the Supervisor and,
FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Board has full access to the Deputy Supervisor
(2) as an information resource .
