M . on Tuesday , October 4 , 1966 . Members of the Board present were : Chairman David Powers , Robert Powers , Roger Sovocool , C . A . Tilton , Loran Marion , Zoning Officer Andy Soyring , and Secretary Cheryl S . Beninati . Also present were : Mr . Maurice Hall and Mr . Gerald Hall , both of 1307 Trumansburg Road , Ithaca , New York , LORAN MARION - WEST HILL CEMETERY ASSOCIATION Mr . Soyring read the legal ad as published in the Ithaca Journal . The Town Board amended the Zoning Ordinance to include cemeteries in R-15 Zones , upon special approval of the Zoning Board of Appeals . The West Hill Cemetery Association had been denied permission to enlarge the cemetery located at the corner of Hayts Road and Trumansburg Road . Mr . and Mrs . Frear have donated 4 . 2 acres of land to the Association , which land must be put to immediate use as a cemetery within 3 years or it will revert to the Frear Estate . Mr . Marion stated that he went of the Health Department to see if there were any health problems for this area , and he was informed that the drainage is satisfactory in this area . Messrs . Hall appeared before the Board with reference as to whether or not the proposed enlarged cemetery would contaminate their well . Mr . Marion replied that Mr . Broad of the Health Department had informed him that drainage would cause no problems to surrounding areas and wells . There was some discussion on whether the markers in the cemetery should be flush with the ground . It was suggested that Mr . Marion go to the West Hill Cemetery Association to discuss this matter and then come back to the Zoning Board with some wording as to what to put into a motion when special approval may be granted . Upon motion by Mr . David Powers , seconded by Mr . Tilton and carrie' d by unanimous vote , this matter was adjourned until the November meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals . SOYRING - 847 TAUGHANNOCK BOULEVARD Mr . Soyring had been denied permission to decrease side yard requirement to five feet ( 15 foot requirement ) in order to 6 ® build a porch- like fire escape . Topography , peculiar to the area , requires the location of the fire escape 5 feet within the side yard requirement . This porch w6ul-d be an open landing with a rail 3 feet from the base of same . Said porch would improve fire protection and also improve ingress and egress . However , after examination of the sketch on the rear of Mr . Soyring !' s application , it was noted that he altered the location of the house as it was originally shown on the plan submitted with his building permit . It was pointed out to Mr . Soyring that he should re -apply to the Zoning Board with his revised plan . This meeting was adjourned at 8 : 30 P . M . Respectfully submitted , Cheryl S . Beninati Secretary
