TOWN OF ITHACA
ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
May 3 , 1966
A meeting of the Town of Ithaca Zoning Board of
Appeals was held at the Town Offices , 108 East
Green Street , City of Ithaca , at 7 : 30 P . M . on
Tuesday , May 3 , 1966 .
Members of the Board present were : Chairman David
F . Powers , C . A . Tilton , William S . Scott , Jr . , Roger
Sovocool , and Secretary Cheryl S . Beninati .
Also present were : Carl Washburn and Andy Soyring ,
FIRST CASE - APPEAL AFTER DENIAL OF BUILDING PERMIT -
WASHBURN
Mr . Washburn had applied for a building permit for
the replacement of the present garage and new addition
away from the road line at 112 Judd Falls Road ,
to be completed on or before March 31 , 1967 . The
permit was denied by the Building Commissioner and
Mr . Washburn appealed to the Zoning Board of Appeals .
This appeal calls for a special approval and not a
variance because of a non- conforming use .
FINDINGS OF FACT :
1 . The premises are reasonably adapted to the
proposed use .
2d. The proposed use , location and design of
the garage is consistent with the character of the
neighborhood .
3 . The proposed use will improve neighboring
property .
4 . The proposed use , by providing =additional
parking , will improve traffic safety .
Upon motion by Mr . Scott , seconded by Mr . Sovocool
and carried by unanimous vote , it was moved that
the Board grant the special approval applied for
based on the foregoing findings of fact .
The meeting was adjourned at 8 : 00 P . M .
