Discussed responsibilities of the fire warden and creating a liaison or coordinator position. Several recommendations were given and K. Servoss will take the information back to the Town Board. Tabled for further discussion at next meeting. Discussion ensued regarding EMS in the Town and how efficient it currently is. The idea of placing a Dryden ambulance in the Varna station for daytime calls was brought up. After discussion, all present agreed to try it for 3 weeks. Dryden Ambulance will keep track of call records to see if this would be efficient to both response time and cost. Results will be brought back to the next meeting for discussion. It was mentioned that adding 2 full-time ambulance crews would cost approximately $400,000 if we were to staff a 24 hr ambulance at the Varna station. We discussed which calls would require a “BLSCR” (Basic Life Support Certified Rescue) to respond. There are currently 4 different EMS levels. After each of the attendees discussed this, it was decided that more research is needed and would be brought to the next meeting. The annual town contract will be discussed at the next meeting, where the Town Supervisor will be present to discuss. All departments will bring back what they would like to see added or subtracted from their contract for discussion. The next Emergency Services Committee Meeting will be on December 18th at 7:00 pm at the Etna Fire Station. Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm. Respectfully submitted, Patrick M. Brunner
