In the spring of 2021, our consultants, ECC Technologies out of Rochester, NY, inventoried the identifiable broadband infrastructure within the region. From May through the end of July, a survey was launched aimed at understanding issues related to access to and affordability of broadband in the region. We received over 6,000 responses in total, with nearly 1,000 coming from Cortland County. A draft report summarizing this data is currently under review. As part of this effort, we are providing the following documents for your review: • Two maps including all identifiable broadband infrastructure within the County and your town • Two maps identifying gaps in physical broadband infrastructure within the County and your town • A table identifying the estimated number of miles and addresses that remain physically unserved by broadband at this time in all towns within the County Estimates on the number of unserved addresses and the mileage of unserved sheets are based on the visual inventory performed by ECC, along with additional data sets acquired by their team. We aslc that you review the information provided here and submit any comments, quesfions, or corrections by December 18, 2021. The County Legislature has been provided similar maps of each town within the County for their own review. We appreciate any insight you may be able to provide into the accuracy of the maps, including areas you know to be served but are marked as unserved or vice versa, areas you believe should be emphasized in any potential build out scenarios, and other details you believe should be noted from a more local perspective.
