Members Present: Kim LaMotte, Steve Foote, Doug Barton,
Liaisons: Craig Schutt (Conservation Board), John Kiefer (Planning Board) and Jason Leifer (Town Board)
Guests: Debbie Teeter, Cornell Cooperative Extension and Nancy Munkenbeck (Conservation Board
member)
The Meeting was called to order at 7:35PM
The Committee discussed ways to reach more of the farmers and ag land owners:
- Concerns included the fact that the weather might be too nice by the end of the month for the
farmers to attend a meeting
- The committee agreed to send the survey to the farmers with a cover letter and return
envelope. If an email address is available, the cover letter and survey will be sent electronically.
- The surveys sent to the farmers will be a different color than the land owners.
- The committee agreed to add a line addressing a potential increase in the amount of forest land
that can be brought under ag exemption
- Some of the statements in the survey were clarified for better understanding of the specific
question being addressed.
- Agri-tourism – should it be a bigger part of the ag plan?
The Committee agreed to mailing surveys to the farmers and ag land owners and then they will follow
up with phone calls and emails prior to the March 29th meeting.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45PM
