ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
NOVEMBER 119 1963
A meeting of the Town of Ithaca Zoning Board of
Appeals was held at the Highway Building on Monday November 11 ,
1963 at 7 : 30 P . M .
Members of the Board present were : Chairman David F .
Powers , William S . Scott and Charles A . Tilton .
Also present -. .were : Zoning Officer Robert J . Wells ,
and Mr . Russell Savey .
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved
as written .
FIRST CASE : Mr . Russell Savey of 151 Northview Road was
present in regards to the previously adjourned meeting for
special approval to conduct a nursery school at 430 Codding -
ton Road . His application was presented to the Planning
Board and given required approval for the above request . .
Mr . Savey also has been requested to erect a fence around
the play area . of the nursery school . He stated that he
intends to put up a 361 , high fence with 3h foot posts .
A motion was made by William Scott , seconded by
Charles Tilton , and carried by unanimous vote , that Mr .
Russell Savey be granted special approval to conduct a
nursery school at 403 Coddington Road providing he fence
in the play area before December 1 , 1963 as recommended
by the Planning Board .
SECOND CASE : Proof of publication was read .
A hearing; for W . D . McElwee and Sons , General
Contractor and Appellant , to secure the required special
approval for the construction of the Northeast Elementary
School , located at Warren Road was held , without opposition .
Approval is required by the Zoning Officer under
Article IV , Section II of the Zoning Ordinance , which states
that this application be referred to the Planning Board
and no final action shall be taken until the Planning
Board has submitted a. report or has failed to submit a
report within 30 days .
The Planning Board , at their Movember 5 , 1963
meeting , gave special approval for construction of the
Northeast Elementary School at Warren Road .
After discussion of parking - set - backs , etc .
a Motion was made by Chairman Powers , seconded . by William
Scott , and carried by unanimous vote that special approval
be granted for this construction . .
The meeting was adjourned at 8 : 00 P . M .
