2021 Joint Fire District Budget
Town of Ulysses
November 10, 2020
The meeting was held via Zoom videoconference and noticed on the website at ulysses.ny.us.
ATTENDANCE:

ABSENT: Town Board member-Rich Goldman

PURPOSE OF PUBLIC HEARING:
Ms. Zahler stated that the subject of the public hearing is the 2021 Fire Budget. She added that the
date of the hearing was set by resolution of the Town Board on October 29, 2020 and a notice of the
hearing was published in the Ithaca Journal on November 3, 2020. The meeting was also noticed on
the town’s newsletter and website.
She further noted that the town enters into an agreement for fire protection each year, along with
the Towns of Covert and Hector, who were both invited to join this hearing.
Ms. Zahler added that the cost to taxpayers for 2021 will be $228,783. Ulysses pays 51% of the total
cost of the district, based on the average number of calls responded to by the department.
The agreement has been posted on the website for anyone to view.
OPENING THE PUBLIC HEARING:
Ms. Olson made a motion to open the hearing at 7:07pm. This was seconded by Mr. Boggs and
passed unanimously.

CLOSING THE HEARING:

With no further comments, Ms. Olson made a motion to close the hearing at 7:09pm. This was
seconded by Mr. Devokaitis and passed unanimously.
