The meeting of the Town of Ithaca Zoning Board of Appeals was held at the Town Highway Building , Elmira Road , on March 20 , 1961 at 7 : 30 P . M . It was duly publicized in the ITHACA JOURNAL on March 13 , 1961 . Members of the . Board present were : Chairman William Rolston , David Powers , and Aldus Fogelsanger.. Others present were : Robert Wells and K . G . McQuire . K . G . McQuire of Elmira Road wants to build a garage and storage shed in the rear of his present buildings at 635 Elmira Road . This is an extension of a non- conforming use as this is now zoned residential . The proposed building is to be of wood construction set behind the present garden store . It will replace three buildings now in existence and be used for storage at the present time . It will be equipped with a potting bench and will be used for machinery and general storage . Proposed building is to be 161 x 721 with a 20 ' x 241 ell for garage . Access will be by existing drive -way . Front of the proposed building to be 1261 from the highway . The new building will be more attractive than the three buildings it will replace ; it will be well shrubbed and make a more convenient working arrangement . Building permit was denied by the Zoning Officer under Article XII , Section 54 , of the Zoning Ordinance . Mr . McQuire lives beside the Garden Store . It was stated that no neighbors objected and no one appeared at the meeting to speak for or against the petition . In the discussion it was agreed that the need for the building existed , that no property owners would be adversely affected , that the prosperity of the community would be fostered , and that the use would be in harmony with the other uses of that part of the Elmira Road . 112 d The Board voted unanimously to grant the appeal .
