Powers ; A . Fogelsanger ; and Constance E . Cook , Secretary . Others present were : John W . Humphreys and William ' Graeper representing the applicant , Cornell University ; and Robert J . Wells , Zoning Officer of the Town of Ithaca . The chairman called the meeting to order and stated that the purpose of the meeting was to consider the application of Cornell University for the special approval and a variance in connection with the extension of a non- conforming use ; viz . ex- tending a storage building of the Cornell University Press lo - cated on Veteran ' s Place , Ithaca , New York . A building permit had been denied by the Zoning Officer of the Town of Ithaca under Article 12 , Section 54 of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Ithaca . The proposed change is to add 80 feet to the east end of the existing storage building for the storage of hoods . Discussion of the change followed . It was noted that the existing building has inside storage for one truck . With the proposed addition , no additional truck parking is needed or planned . There are large yards around the present building ; the front will not be changed , the rear yard will be 28 feet to an adjoining 10 feet right - of -way . It will be 2 feet shorter than rear yards required in residence districts . The proposed quonset addition comes in 10 foot modules , and would thus have to reduce to 10 feet , in order to achieve a 30 foot rear yard required in R- 9 districts . ± No objections were expressed against the proposed change . A motion was made by Mrs . Cook , seconded by R . Powers to grant special approval and a variance to the applicant , Cor- nell University . The motion was passed unanimously by the Board . In other action , Mr . Rolston stated that a question had arisen as tb the adequacy of notice of the three prior meetings . The Board , on motion by Mrs . Cook and seconded by R . Powers , voted unanimously to ratify and confirm action taken . by the Board at the meetings of October 17 , 24 , and 25 , 1960 , concerning the applications of Mr . and Mrs . H . S .
