Bob, who had worked for ` x 4tic the Buildings and Grounds Division at the Tompkins 4 - ' i , , County Public Library for six years, died unexpectedly in his sleep on May 24, 1998. His death touched many. To honor his memory, the Buildings & Grounds Division decided to remodel their conference room and name it after \ ; Bob. Many co- workers worked on this project, painting, cleaning, re- tiling the ceiling, etc. Much of this work was �, done on their own time Plaques bearing Bob's name 01 4 ,, t -- ' �' were engraved and will hang both inside and outside the j conference room at the Biggs Building. k'" ',�k` z " ' ' The dedication ceremony was further enchanced -Y by the presence of Bob's family which included his wife, Theresa, their children and 11 grandchildren. After a moment of silence, Tom Cannon who worked with Bob at Bob Albert the Library and became good friends with him, spoke about Bob, his sense of humor, what he stood for and what he , 4..4 " � R . meant to a lot of people. There were tears as well as p ; , laughter as he spoke. Tom then presented the plaques to l Theresa. ;, ` 4 I was privileged to be at this ceremony that day. On a personal note, I know I have mentioned in Tom Cannon presenting the plaque to Theresa my weather reports that I have a 13 year old daughter. „ I am sure many of you have teenagers at home so note the following items that seem to hit home about those of who are "Over the hill" and No longer Cool... 1. Employees of the Tompkins County Library were recognized Dave Bush recently at the annual Staff Recognition Day event, sponsored by the Board of Trustees of the library. Carol Vorhis, Senior Library Clerk received the Cl- Customer Service Award for her ability to handle every difficult customer with patience, tact, understanding and M ' . "' dignity. Eric Byrd, Page and Library Clerk was recognized 1111 -I SPACE ` for his exceptional willingness to help whenever needed. FOR Ellen Takashima, Library Page, received the Crackerjack Award for her equanimity when a six foot high partition fell RENT on her.
