I - was taking my friend Marie and had made reservations at a motel in Watkins Glen so we could spend the night and , then go on to the Windmill the next day to shop. I filled '"v the gas tank, changed the oil, made sure the a/c was i working fine and bought a new tape of soothing music. We found a T - man by the name of Joe who took us to a mechanic named COLUMBIA 14 %e ~ • Greg who called the nearest auto mechanic who had just ' 4 1 •' closed. Joe volunteered to give us a jump and took his -- 1 truck to where we were stranded and got us going again. . • We happily got back in the car and got about a mile down the road before we were once again powerless. We Bob got us there just in time to board and enjoy started to walk toward a nearby farmhouse when a fellow the wonderful dinner, company and tales of Seneca Lake. named Bob drove by in his van and said, "Joe wasn't Our table partners were delightful and even offered to take sure how far you would get and so he suggested I check us back to our motel after the cruise. In the next few minutes Greg reappeared, took clerk, we went over to the only garage open that day, the out my battery and replaced it with one he had brought with Dodge garage, and told our story. The manager there him; Mike the mechanic from across the street took MY said, "We're short staffed today and have a lot of work battery and said he would charge it and we could pick it up ahead of you and we're open only until noon." Then he on our way home the next day; and Bob agreed to follow added those magical words.... "but I'll take a look." About us to Watkins Glen to make sure we got there and take us 11 a.m. we went back and found my "new" battery being to the boat so we wouldn't miss the cruise. charged and the manager there saying, "I have tried every place I know to get you an alternator and I can't get one. I took your car over to the my friend who has a computer .- ! and it says the problem is your alternator. I'm so sorry I - — can't help, but if you don't use your turn signals, your tape deck, or your air - conditioner, I think you can make it back. . ,•k.
