HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-10-01 SpecialTOWN OF GROTON — MINUTES OF SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2019 AT 7:30 PM THE TOWN HALL, 101 CONGER BOULEVARD Town Officers Present: Donald F. Scheffler, Supervisor Richard Gamel, Councilperson Brian Klumpp, Councilperson April L. Scheffler, Town Clerk Charles Rankin, Bookkeeper Town Officers Absent: Also Present: Crystal Young, Councilperson Sheldon C. Clark, Councilperson The purpose of the Special Meeting was for the Town Clerk to present the Board with the 2020 Tentative Budget and for discussion thereon. Supervisor Scheffler and Mr. Rankin explained that they had received requests for the Fire and Ambulance Contracts after the Tentative Budget had been completed. After some discussion, the Board felt that they would have a discussion with the representatives from the Fire Department at the public hearing. With the following resolution, the Tentative Budget becomes the Preliminary Budget. RESOLUTION #19-089 - ACCEPT TENTATIVE BUDGET MOVED by Supervisor Scheffler, second Councilperson Klumpp RESOLVED, that after review of the 2020 Fiscal Year Tentative Budget, the Town Board accepts it with no changes. Ayes - Klumpp, Gamel, Scheffler Nays - Resolution Passed After further discussion, the Town Board decided to reschedule the date for the Public Hearing on the 2020 Budget. RESOLUTION #19 -090 - RESCHEDULE 2020 BUDGET HEARING & SPECIAL MEETING MOVED by Supervisor Scheffler, seconded by Councilperson Gamel RESOLVED, the Town Board hereby rescinds Resolution #19-088 dated September 10, 2019, and be it further RESOLVED, that the Town Board hereby reschedules the Public Hearing on the 2020 Fiscal Year Preliminary Budget for Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 7:30 pm, immediately followed by a Public Hearing on the 2020 Fiscal Year Fire & Ambulance Contracts, immediately followed by a Special Meeting at which time the Board may take action on the 2020 Budget as well as discuss any other business to come before the Board. Ayes - Klumpp, Gamel, Scheffler Nays - Resolution Passed There being no further business, Councilperson Gamel moved to adjourn, seconded by Councilperson Klumpp, at 8:42 pm. Unanimous. April L.
