As the city's mayor and as a longtime member of the Cortland Regional Sports Council board of directors, I know first-hand of the positive economic impact the park is having in the greater Cortland community. Further, I would encourage the legislature to consider additional investments in parks and recreational opportunities that are used by a broader cross-section of our constituents. This is one of the best ways to improve the quality of life for everyone, and to continue to keep Cortland one of the best places to live. The city has been pleased to be one of many partners in the park's development to date, and the county's involvement would be of tremendous benefit to the town in its ongoing work to create a top -tier northeastern sports tourism destination.
