• June 16 , 1970
The regular meeting of the Town of Ithaca Planning
Board was held June 16 , 1970 in the Town of Ithaca offices ,
108 E . Green Street , Ithaca , New York .
Present : Barbara Holcomb ( acting chairman ) , Reg Collins ,
Peter Francese ( Planning Consultant ) , Robert Christianson ,
David Cowan , and Charlene Lawson ( secretary ) . A quorum was
not present .
• Public Hearing for Drew Subdivision Final Approval :
Mr . Otis Drew requested and received final approval
for an R - 30 subdivision on Poole Road . A public hearing was
held to satisfy the legal requirements ; no one was present
to object to the subdivision .
. Recommendation of Mr . Slack :
A motion was made by Bob Christianson that the Town
Planning Board recommend Mr . Slack to the Town Board as an
appointee to the Town of Ithaca Planning Board to replace
Paul Travelli . The motion was seconded by Reg Collins , and
unanimously passed .
WTKO Site Proposal :
Mr . Robinson of WTKO presented a new site proposal for
the WTKO radio towers . This new site places the towers back
approximately 1 , 080 feet from King Road . Their previous plan
was defeated at the Town Board .
Discussion was held and it was pointed out that there
will need to be a change in the Zoning Ordinance in order to
build these towers since there is no provision in the present
Zoning Ordinance which allows for the construction of radio
towers .
The Planning Board will hold a public hearing on July 21
at 7 : 45 p . m . for the discussion of this proposal . People in
the area affected by the towers will be notified of the hearing .

Changes in Zoning Ordinance
Planning Consultant Peter Francese presented proposed
changes in the Zoning Ordinance . The purpose of these changes
• is to cut down on the ambiguity of the present ordinances .
The Town Board has agreed with these changes and the members
of the Planning Board also expressed acceptance of the pro -
posed changes outlined . Mr . Francese will prepare the new
zoning ordinances to replace those he has outlined to be
changed .
DeWitt Junior High School :
A memo was read from Mr . Allen Felton of the City - County
Committee on Functions concerning the use of the DeWitt Junior
High School building . Mr . Francese suggested that the Planning
r Board recommend this building be sold at a public auction . No
action could be taken because a quorum was not present .
The Planning Board also discussed its responsibility with
regard to water and sewer connections in the Town . Also , a
proposal for a recreation committee which was approved by the
Town Board was presented .
The meeting was adjourned .
