Minutes for previous- meeting were , read and accepted&
Mr . Watson opened up the discussion on the proposal to rezone, a portion of
Five Mile. Drive: from residential to light ihdustrial . He read a letter from
Mrs.. Constance Cook questioning the powers of the Board to approve plans of an
industry or iD require landscaping expect as listed in Section 261 of the Tcwn law .
Mr . Gordon pointed out that a- recent court ruling ddfinitely indicated that
a town and the. Planning Board have the right to require certain types of land-
scaping and to require plans of building sites and buildings . It was a. general
feeling of the Board that the town and the Pla-nning Board have broad powers
in regulating the: appearance , health and safety features of an industry .
Petitions were received from residents: in the Five Mile Drive Area opposing
the proposed change in zoning and requesting that a hearing be held before any
proposal is: acted upon . The petitions contained the names of 44 people but
the resolutions in the petitions were . confusing and in that they did not defini -

tely indicate that all of these people axs opposed to the proposed rezoning.
Mr . Philips read a draft of a proposed amendment to the zoning ordinance
which will establish provisions for a light industrial zone . After considerable
discussion , a motion was made and unanimoulsy adopted that a public hearing
be held to discuss the proposals for rezoning of Five Mile Drive on Tuesday ,
April 9th at 8pme at the Inlet Valley School . The primary purpose of the
hearing is to obtain an indication of the attitudes of the people in the Town
relative tothe propoal to rezone a portion of the residential area on the East
side of Five Mile Drive to a light industrial area .
Ben Boyton announced that the trailer ordinance is now being typed in its
final form and will soon be submitted to the Town Board for approval .

/ttMotion was made by Mr . Philips , seconded and duly approved that Indian Creek

Road be zoned residential for a distance. of 250 feet on each side . The road is
presently zoned agricultural . It was pointed out that at the time of drafting
of the zoning map , the status of the road had not yet been determined * ft
