2019 Fire Contract
Town of Ulysses
January 8, 2019

The meeting was held at the Ulysses Town Hall at 10 Elm Street, Trumansburg.
Notice of Town Board meetings are posted on the town’s website and clerk’s board.
ATTENDANCE:
TOWN OFFICIALS PRESENT:
Supervisor- Liz Thomas
Board members- Michael Boggs, John Hertzler, Nancy Zahler
Town Clerk- Carissa Parlato
Bookkeeper- Nina Thompson
Environmental Planner- John Zepko
OTHERS PRESENT:
Jessica Giles, Don Ellis
ABSENT:
Rich Goldman
OPENING THE HEARING:
Mr. Hertzler made a motion to open the hearing at 7pm, seconded by Mr. Boggs and passed
unanimously.
Ms. Thomas noted the subject of the hearing: the adoption of a fire contract with the Village of
Trumansburg.
She stated the following:
“Copies of the proposed fire contract are in the back. Tonight’s meeting is a Public Hearing which is a
time for the Town Board to listen to comments from the public on the proposed fire contract.
The proposed contract for the Ulysses portion of fire costs is $228,645
Covert portion = $55,429
Hector portion = $18,014
Village portion = $ 173,909
The towns are required to provide fire protection services for their residents and this contract
provides such services through the Trumansburg Fire Department, maintained by the Village of
Trumansburg.
This public hearing was properly noticed in the Ithaca Journal on December 18, 2018
The fire contract introduced at the Dec. 11 meeting.

Having no public comments, the board agreed to keep the hearing open while they resumed their
regular meeting, should any members of the public come in to comment.

CLOSING THE HEARING:
Hearing no further comments, Ms. Zahler made a motion to close the hearing at 7:30pm, seconded
by Mr. Boggs and passed unanimoulsy.
