TOWN OF DANBY
SPECIAL MEETING
FEBRUARY 5, 2008

Supervisor Dietrich called the meeting to order at 6 : 30 p .m.
Motion to Adjourn to Executive Session
A motion was made by Supervisor Dietrich and seconded by Councilperson Salino that the Town
Board of the Town of Danby adjourn to executive session to discuss a receive an update for possible
litigation with the Town Attorney.
A roll call vote on the motion resulted as follows :

Meeting Reconvened
The Special Meeting of the Board reconvened at 7 : 40 p .m.
Patti Meyers submitted a letter to the Danby Community Library Advisory Committee from
Tompkins County Library regarding a review and prioritization of all library programs and services .
They are prepared to continue their current level of support through the calendar year of 2007 . The
Danby library volunteers will be holding a public information meeting tomorrow (2/5/07) at 5 : 30
p .m . to talk about the future of our library. She invited to board to attend. We need to start thinking
of transition plans .
Dan Klein - reported that as a member of the Task Force that at their last meeting they discussed the
issue of their being disbanded and by majority vote and have requested to the Town Board that they
be reinstated as a committee .
Supervisor Dietrich said that he would like to schedule a meeting with the Town Board, Planning
Board and the Task Force to discuss our future plans at a Town Board or Planning Board meeting.
A tentative meeting date was set for March 5 , 2007 at 7 : 15 p . m . We are waiting until we hear back
from the members of the Planning Board before scheduling the meeting.
George Blanchard - asked the Supervisor why he voted against the resolution to dissolve the Task
Force.
Supervisor Dietrich said that he thinks that the boards should continue to work on the
implementation of the Comprehensive Plan . It is probably good that we revisit the concept of
implementation of the Comprehensive Plan . He said that he would like to take a few months and
refocus on where the town wants to go . We need a break now to refocus . It is important that we
make the whole process as comprehensive as we can. He said that he voted against it because he felt
that it was a bad procedure without asking the Task Force . He thought it was bad to come to a
unilateral decision that we should abandon it.

George Blanchard said that he does not attend because they address things that he does not see as
true. Conclusions are given by a preset group who are not representative of the majority.
Al Becker said that he has not been to a Task Force meeting since August. Laws to be considered
are being brought in that were written in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Councilperson Nolte said that he thinks that those reasons are why George and Al should be
involved .
Proposed 2007 Revisions to Subdivision Regulations
Susan Beeners submitted an update on the Proposed Revision of the Subdivision Regulations for the
board to consider.
Motion to Pass the Proposed Subdivision Regulations to
A motion was made by Councilperson Beavers and seconded by Councilperson Salino that the Town
Board of the Town of Danby:
* Approves in concept of the proposed 2007 the draft revisions to the Subdivision Regulations
* Authorizes the Town Attorney and Code Enforcement Officer to prepare a final draft for
transmittal to the Planning Board for a recommendation, and to the Tompkins County
Department of Planning pursuant to General Municipal Law 239 review;
* Authorizes the Code Enforcement Officer to arrange for transmittal of an article to the Danby
Area News, and an article for electronic circulation, generally as shown in the working draft
(enclosed as item 3 ) .
A vote on the motion resulted as follows :
