Present: Planning Board Members Chair M. Harms, G. Gillespie, S. Cunningham,
H. Richardson (arrived at 7:50pm), Alternate D. Hay
Deputy Clerk A. Podufalski
Trustee S. Hamilton and Historian B. Szekely
Item 1 – Meeting called to order
Chair M. Harms opened the meeting at 7:08 pm.
Chair M. Harms appointed Alternate D. Hay as a voting member.
Item 2- November 26, 2012 Minutes

RESOLUTION No. 101
APPROVING MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 26, 2012
RESOLVE, that the written, reviewed and revised minutes of the November 26, 2012 meeting are
hereby approved.
Aye votes – Chair M. Harms, G. Gillespie, S. Cunningham, Alternate D. Hay
Opposed- None
Not present: H. Richardson
Item 3- Public Comment
• No members of the public were present to comment.
Item 4- Resolution of Thanks to Beatrice Szekely & welcome to Trustee S. Hamilton
• The Board expressed their gratitude to Beatrice Szekely for her service as Trustee Liaison to
the Planning Board.

RESOLUTION No. 102
RESOLUTION OF THANKS TO BEATRICE SZEKELY FOR HER SERVICE AS
TRUSTEE LIASON.

RESOLVE, that the Village of Cayuga Heights Planning Board thanks Beatrice Szekely for
her service as Trustee Liaison to the Planning Board.
Aye votes – Chair M. Harms, G. Gillespie, S. Cunningham, Alternate D. Hay

Not present: H. Richardson
• The Board welcomed Trustee S. Hamilton as the new Trustee Liaison.
Item 5-Comprehensive Plan
• The Board discussed the role of Village Historian and the establishment of a Historic
Preservation Committee. Village Historian B. Szekely invited a member of the Board to join
the Historic Preservation Committee and discussed ideas for the upcoming Village’s
Centennial celebration.
• Update on Trustees’ schedule for furthering process to adoptionà Trustee Hamilton
explained another public discussion forum is necessary before a public hearing will be
scheduled. A lengthy process remains before the plan will officially be adopted. At this
point, the Trustees do not have an established timeline.
• A special joint meeting between the Trustees and Planning Board to discuss the plan is
scheduled for Tuesday, May 28th at 7pm at the Fire Hall.

RESOLUTION No. 103
TO HOLD A JOINT MEETING WITH THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO
DISCUSS THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN.
RESOLVE, that the Village of Cayuga Heights Planning Board will meet with the Board of
Trustees on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 7 PM at the Cayuga Heights Fire Hall to discuss the
Comprehensive Plan.
Aye votes – Chair M. Harms, G. Gillespie, S. Cunningham, H. Richardson, Alternate D.

• The Board discussed the presentation made by Mark Mecenas during the Board of Trustees
meeting on May 13th regarding the future of Community Corners.
• S. Cunningham spoke to the Board, sitting in the audience as a resident, about a possible
recommendation regarding the use of short term rentals of Village homes within the
Comprehensive Plan.
Item 6-Report on Sustainable Tompkins County meeting by G. Gillespie.
Item 7- Comprehensive Plan revision

• The Board discussed recent edits to the draft text of the plan.
Item 8- Other Business
• June meeting à Chair M. Harms will send out an email closer to the scheduled meeting date
to determine whether there are any agenda items.
• D. Hay discussed safety concerns regarding Cayuga Heights Rd and would like to see the
shoulder expanded.

Chair M. Harms adjourned the meeting at 10:10 pm.
