County , New York , held on the 17th day of July , 1980 , at 12 : 00 p . m . ,
at the Town of Ithaca Offices at 126 East Seneca Street , Ithaca „ New

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Supervisor led the assemblage in the Pledge of Allegiance .
CHANGE IN REAL PROPERTY TAX
FOR THE ELDERLY
Supervisor Desch reported that he received a letter on July 15 , 1980 ,
from Margaret Harding , Director of the Tompkins County Office for the
Aging and Thomas Payne , County Assessor regarding a change in the law
on Real Property Tax exemption for the elderly .
Section 467 of the Real Property Tax Law has been amended ( Chapter
816 of the Laws of 1980 ) to permit municipalities to raise to $ 9 , 200
the income eligibility for homeowners aged 65 and up who qualify in
other respects . Any person 65 plus , who meet eligibility requirements ,
must file an application by August 1 , 1980 .
Supervisor Desch noted that the present income limit for the Town of
Ithaca elderly residents was $ 7 , 200 .
RESOLUTION N0 , 127
RESOLVED , that the Town Board of the Town of Ithaca will conduct a
public hearing on July 25 , 1980 , at 5 : 15 p . m . , at the Town Offices
at 126 East Seneca Street , Ithaca , New York , to consider the adoption
of a local law in regard to a change in Real Property Tax Exemption
for the Elderly , and to hear all persons in favor of or opposed to
the adoption of such local law .
