PLANNING BOARD MINUTES
MARCH 20, 2002
Regular Meeting

Susan Beeners - Code Enforcement Officer
Acting Chair Robert Roe called the meeting to order at 7 : 10 p . m .
There was not a quarm present and no public was present .
Miscellaneous Reports :
Bob reported that there is a report out from New York State with maps of the Divonian and
Ordevician Exploration Fairways . Those are the formations of the Trent Black Water Deposits. The
maps are based on the sonic testing of the areas . The drilling at this time is concentrated to the south
and west of Tompkins County .
Susan Beeners said that Lorene Gilbert has asked that she not attend meetings for a while and Bob
Roe will be acting Chair until she returns and reported on the following :
Public Information Meeting - Farmers Market
Susan Beeners reported that there was a good attendance at the public information meeting on a
proposed Farmers Market. The issue of the farmers market has been referred to Community Council .
Historic Agricultural Resources Meeting
The public meeting on the Historic Agricultural Resources Meeting was well presented .
Telecommunication Consultant
William Sitzman has been approved as the Telecommunication Consultant for the Town of Danby .
Code Enforcement Monthly Report :
Susan reported that her department has issued twenty (20) building permits last month for new
housing starts . There are eleven pending Planning Board or Board of Zoning Appeals pending
applications . The applications are for minor subdivisions and some are variances . Year to date as
of today we have five (5 ) housing starts and fifteen ( 15 ) pending.
Benjamin ' s One Stop
Susan Beeners reported that she is waiting for legal advice from our Town Attorney for manner of
collection for Benjamin ' s One Stop .
Revised Site Plan - Danby Federated Church
A new revised site plan for the Danby Federated Church was reviewed. The Board discussed many
issues related to the proposed parking areas and number of spaces .
The proposed addition to the Danby Federated Church may come to the Planning Board on April
17 ,2002 for final site plan review and site plan approval . Susan said that the Planning Board could

consider granting them a preliminary site plan approval subject to certain provisions which might
be some minor design items . There would not have to be any Planning Board public hearing for a
final site plan .
Bob Roe said that the church project must have the required variances in place before the Planning
Board can grant preliminary approval and amealerization of the parking requirements .
Susan said that both the BZA and the Planning Board must hold a public hearing.
Intern for the Comprehensive Plan
Susan would like the Town to hire a summer intern to help with planning issues and the
comprehensive plan . A grant or share may be possible to help pay for an intern or a summer student
from Cornell University.
Bob Roe said he would recommend to the Town Board that they pursue the summer intern program
only if we can get a person from the Cornell Traditions .
Susan Beeners will get something advertized through the summer intern program and Cornell
Tradtions .
