TOWN BOARD MINUTES
NOVEMBER 1 , 2001
SPECIAL MEETING :
Bid Award - Benjamin ' s One Stop
PRESENT :
Supervisor Edward Inman
Councilpersons : Joel Gagnon, Naomi Strichartz, Gladys Varona-Lacey
ABSENT :
Councilperson Norbert Nolte
Others Present:

Supervisor Inman called the special meeting of the Board to order at 7 : 04 p .m . and reported that the
Town had received five (5) bids for the demolition of Benjamin ' s One Stop .
Susan Beeners reported to the Board that she has reviewed the bids and obtained reference materials
on the low bidder of the project and submitted a memo of the findings. Permission to demolish has
not been received from the owners of Benjamin ' s One Stop or their attorney at this time . She said
she expected to receive. When permission has been received to demolish the building a contract will
be executed.
The Board discussed the bids received and the following resolution was presented .
RESOLUTION NO 83 OF 2001
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AWARD OF BID FOR DEMOLITION OF THE
BUILDING AT 1860 DANBY ROAD AND RELATED SITE WORK
By Councilperson Gagnon : Seconded by Councilperson Strichartz
WHEREAS, the Town of Danby Town Board by Resolution No . 75 of 2001 on October 8 , 2001
authorized the Town Supervisor with the assistance of the Code Enforcement Officer and Attorney
of the Town to proceed with such steps as may be necessary and appropriate to fully demolish the
Building located at 1860 Danby Road, provided that the owners of said property stipulate that they
too, believe that the cost of partial demolition which is necessary to make the building safe will
probably exceed the cost of full demolition, and provided that an agreement to such is executed
between the Town and the owners; and
WHEREAS, a proposed Stipulation and Agreement related to full demolition is currently under
review by the owners of the subject property; and
WHEREAS, bids were solicited and have been obtained for full demolition of the above-ground
components of the Building and for related site work ; and
WHEREAS, Diversified Developers of Central New York, located at 18 -A Cherry Street, Phoenix ,
New York 13135 , is the apparent lowest qualified bidder; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Danby authorizes the Town Supervisor to award
the contract for demolition and related site work at 1860 Danby Road (former Benjamin ' s One Stop
Building) to Diversified Developers of Central New York, provided that a Stipulation and Agreement
related to full demolition is executed between the Town and the owners of the subject property prior
to award of the contract.
A roll call vote on the resolution resulted as follows :

Susan Beeners reported that the request from Tompkins County Assessment Office requesting a Ad
Valorem Levy for the Town of Danby was not sent to the State on a timely basis .
