Dear Mr . Schwann and ' Members of the Board .
It is with great regret that I must submit to you my
resignation as Ithaca Town Justice , effective , October 10 , 1977 .
For both personal and professional reasons , it is im -
perative that I resign my duties . My husband and I are moving
back to my native state of Illinois , where my ? husband has already
taken a new job . I have just discovered thati in order for me to
be admitted to the Illinois Bar , without taking another bar exam
land having -to -wait until next July for the results ) , I must declare
my Illinois residency immediately . My husband and I have a resi -
dence address in Illinois where my husband will be living as of
October 10 , but naturally , I cannot declare this residence while
still holding office in New York .
Although my departure = must be precipitous , I will do all
in my power to ,see that a smooth transition occurs . I am sure that
the continued employment of my Court Clerk , Mrs . ShirleS McCarty ;
will help in this respect , and I recommend that the Board retain
her services .

me this opportunity to serve them . I have found my duties challeng -
ing - and rewarding and hope that in performing them , I have fulfilled
the people ' s confidence in me .
