Y. 13045 Dear Cortlandville Town Board: I am writing to share my concern about putting yet another solar project in the McLean Road area. I am in favor of solar power, but there seems to be a large number of projects concentrated in this small geographic area. This impacts a number of neighborhoods. There is a huge project behind the houses on McLean Road near Stupke Rd and one on Lime Hollow. Another large project is on Route 13 by ElmTree Golf Course south of Gracie Rd. How many solar projects are needed in this small area? I am extremely upset with the proposed solar project across from Deerfield Heights. It would be extremely visible from the road. There are 140 acres in that lot. Why must the panels be placed on the knoll and right near the road? The answer is – it is cheaper because the land is cleared and more profit for absentee owners can be made. But, is it needed? Will it improve the quality of life in Cortlandville? Save the Town of Cortlandville money? It is my understanding that the land will be leased by the solar farm owner from the land owner. What happens if the solar farm owner abandons the lease? Who will be responsible for the clean up of the solar farm and putting the land back to a residential/agriculture status? Put solar panels where they do not disturb the rural views and character of our town. There are a number of sites that would meet this criteria. The land across from Deerfield Heights is zoned residential/agricultural, let’s keep it that classification. Can this McLean Road solar farm proposal be reviewed and changed? Thank you, David Park 3493 Deerfield Heights Cortland, N.Y. 13045 PS: Please let me know what is going to happen.
