Purpose of meeting was to discuss Town Building Drainage System.
Drainage system in Highway Garage drains water from roof and water from garage drains into
Creek. Someone reported to DEC that gas or a chemical was in the creek. Highway crew had
washed a truck outside and was preparing to clean garage floor with a degreaser so that bays could
be used for Old Home Days. The degreaser and absorbent had to be placed in barrels and the two
drains had to be plugged so as to not allow any water to pass through them into creek.
Board Members discussed hooking up to the Village Sewer System. Supervisor Robinson is to
contact Frank Satterly regarding this option. Also the Highway Superintendent should consider
changing to a non - hazardous degreaser for washing trucks and garage floor.
We probably would have to have some kind of a grease trap -- possible designating one bay for
this purpose.
Supervisor is to check with DEC to see if this route is okay. We also could be subject to a fine for
each day we do not comply. We need a decision by October 15. Also, if necessary, we will have
to retain an Engineer.
Moved by Mr. Sovocool, seconded by Mr. Palmer, to authorize Supervisor Robinson to talk with
Frank Satterly and /or the Village Board about hooking up to the Village Sewer System and what
they would require. Ayes - VanBenschoten, Sovocool, Palmer, Carey, Robinson.
There being no further discussion, Mr. Sovocool moved to adjourn, seconded by Mr.
VanBenschoten, at 6:40PM. Unanimous
