BOX Trumansburg, N.Y. 14886 (607)387-8601/6447 PUBLIC NOTICE I HEREBY CERTIFY, that the Ordinance hereinafter of the TOWN OF ULYSSES was duly passed by the TOWN BOARD on August 14th, 1984 in accordance with the applicable provisions of law. AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE OBSTRUCTION OF HIGHWAYS SECTION 1 - Since there is a necessity to keep the town highway rights of way free from obstruction for the convenience of the public in general and town vehicles and school buses in particular, this ordinance is enacted to regulate parking and other obstructions on the town highways. SECTION 2 - On and after the effective date of this ordinance, it shall be unlawful for any person or entity to park a vehicle or leave other obstacles within any town highway right of way which unreasonably interferes with the use of the highway by others or the proper maintenance and repair thereof for anything other than a temporary purpose reasonably designed to accomplish legitimate goals. SECTION 3 - Any person or entity found violating any provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed quality of an violation and upon conviction thereof shall be subject to a fine not to exceed two hundred fifty ($250) dollars or to imprisonment not exceeding 15 days, or to both such fine and imprisonment, for each and every violation. Each day's continued violation shall constitute a separate additional violation. SECTION 4- On and after the effective date of this ordinance, the Town Highway Department shall be authorized during snow -storms, floods or fires to remove any unattended vehicle which constitutes an obstruction to traffic or interferes with the proper maintenance thereof and to provide for the storage of said vehicle. The reasonable charges for such removal and storage shall be the cost thereof and shall be paid by the owner or operator of any such vehicle. Such charges shall be in addition to any fines or penalties imposed pursuant to Section 3 of the ordinance.
