Subsequently, additional monies have been returned and we are now able to offer this grant commitment. I am pleased to inform you that a matching grant of $50,000 • has been reserved for the West Dryden Community Center preservation project. Last Fall, our office conducted a series of orientation workshops on the EQBA grant program across the state. Hopefully, you or a member of your project team were able to attend the orientation. At this time, please contact your Regional Grants Officer for more information and assistance on the EQBA historic preservation grant program; this is especially important before any work on the proposed grant project begins. In addition, take note that work undertaken on this project before receiving official approvals may not be reimbusable under the EQBA program. The grant will be formally awarded by contract subject to the approval of the Attorney General and the State Comptroller, and upon satisfactory completion of the general and specific conditions noted on the enclosed sheet. Please return a signed copy of the enclosed conditions sheet to your Regional Grants Officer no later than May 1, 1993. U EQBA Grant Historic Preservation Page 2 The competition for the 1992 historic preservation grants was the highest to date. Several alternate projects are still waiting for EQBA grants commitments. Therefore, it is imperative that your project be undertaken in an efficient and timely manner. if, for any reason, your project will not be undertaken, please contact your Regional Grants Officer as soon as possible. I congratulate you on being one of the successful applicants and express my hope that working together we can make your project and our grant program successful. As the announcement of this group of awards is made, we are again reminded of the tremendous need for these funds. I 9 • Resolution # 115- 1993 Whereas, the Tompkins County Board of Representatives on December 7, 1987 selected the landfill site known as DR -7 in the Town of Dryden. Whereas, the existence of federally protected wetlands were found on the site. Whereas, the Tompkins County Board of Representatives has on March 30, 1993 withdrawn its current permit application from further consideration by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Whereas, the County has terminated any further plans to site, construct, or operate any solid waste management facility on the DR -7 site in the Town of Dryden. Whereas, County staff have been directed to revise the County's Draft Solid Waste Management Plan to reflect this change from County landfilling at the DR -7 landfill site to more economical alternatives for disposal. Whereas, all related activities to DR -7 will be completed by June 29, 1993. Therefore, be it resolved, by the Town Board, Dryden, New York, this 27th day of April, 1993, that: • 1. A hearty "thank you" be given to all of the citizens of Tompkins County for their hard work in assisting in the fair evaluation of the DR -7 site, including environmental concerns. 2. All of the current and past members of the volunteer citizens action group Citizens Resisting Overdumping in West Dryden (CROWD), Inc. be recognized for their vital involvement in the site evaluation process. 3. All of the current and past members of the volunteer county Citizens Advisory Committee for the DR -7 Landfill be recognized for their valuable input for the site evaluation process. 4. Government alone will not solve our problems. It is both the right and duty of each citizen to be involved in processes such as these in order that all of our concerns might find their right and proper resolution. Motion raised by Ronald C.
